What a great day at our Christmas Fayre! Amazing atmosphere and a really good turn out!
A total of £1013 was raised and on behalf of the parent council we would like to say a huge well done to all our parents, families, friends and members of the local community that showed their support.
A special thank you goes to local businesses who donated gerenously to our raffle, to parents who sent their donations into the school, and to our very own pupils who manned the stalls and took part on the day. We really appreciate it.
Representatives from South Lanarkshire Council presented a first look at the plans for the new school at the latest parent council meeting. We will hopefully receive some images soon to display on the website. It looks fanstastic!
The Halloween Discos were very well attended this year and everyone made a real effort to come up with some brilliant costumes.
AGM. New members welcomed, roles elected and overview of a successful year!
Good first meeting tonight with lots of ideas for events and activities. Looks like we are going to have a busy few months ahead so watch this space for updates!
The new books have arrived!
The Roald Dahl books purchased by the parent council to support a literacy project within the school have arrived. The teachers have decided what books they will be using in class this week and the children will begin working with these lovely new books very soon.
End of year donations to the school
A huge thank you to all of our parents who have supported all of our events and fundraising activities over the last year. We are pleased to announce that due to your generosity we have managed to donate £2500 to the school. The well-advertised target was always to enable the school to buy ‘Tablets’ to support learning and we are pleased that this will enable the school to purchase a number of the electronic devices. However the members of the parent council also wanted our donation to be used for something that all the children could appreciate, therefore we have also bought books to support a literacy project in the new term and hopefully bring pleasure too. We would like to give a massive pat on the back to our parents, WELL DONE ALL!
Summer Swing Disco 23rd June
Thanks to all the children who attended the summer discos, think everyone enjoyed themselves! We raised £59.01 for the school after expenses. Thanks also to all the parent council members and parent helpers who helped to put the event on..couldn’t do it without you!
Leavers Dance 17th June
The parent council helped to give the P7’s a rousing send off with a fabulous buffet at their leavers dance. Thanks to all the members who put tremendous effort into providing and preparing the delicious buffet, it went down a treat! All the children looked fabulous and were treated to a prom style photographer too for a keepsake!
Car Boot Sale and BBQ 10 May 2014
We all got soaked at the Car Boot & BBQ which despite the fact that the weather couldn’t make its mind up on the day still managed to raise £237 after expenses. Thank you to all the hardy souls that supported us on the day!
Easter Disco/Mad Hatter Competition 3rd April 2014
The children had a ball at the Easter Disco. There was a good turnout for the Mad Hatter competition with lots of effort put in by children and parents alike. Miss Ferrie loved one child’s hat so much she decided to keep it! Unfortunately numbers were very tight for parent helpers and there was a worry that the discos would not be able to go ahead. The children love these events and it would be a shame for them to miss out. Please volunteer your time whenever possible to ensure these events go ahead. Thanks again to all parent helpers on the night.
Mothers Day Make It and Coffee Morning 22nd March
Coffee morning, bake sale and kids crafts for Mother’s day was a success. Kids (and parent helpers) had great fun making gifts for their Mums and Grans, the raffle winners were delighted with their prizes of pamper baskets and most importantly the event raised £230 for the school. Not bad considering it was all pocket money prices ! Thanks to everyone who gave up their time to help and also for all the donations of home baking and items for the raffle.
Safer Internet Day 11th February
The 11th Safer Internet Day was celebrated worldwide on Tuesday 11 February 2014. The theme for the day was: “Let’s create a better internet together”. Take a look at the website for tips on making safer internet choices for all, particularly children and young people.
Parent Council Meeting 29th January
The first meeting of 2014 was well attended, lots to get through but think we did it! Thanks to those who volunteered for challenges and I look forward to hearing your progress. Good points raised and discussed by all, very productive meeting! The minutes will be available and on the website soon.
Burns Boogie Disco a Success
Thanks to all parent helpers who attended who offered assistance on Thursday’s discos. The children seemed to have a great time, in particular enjoying the ceilidh dancing where they could practice their moves they have been learning in social dancing at school. It should be noticed that the event almost had to be cancelled due to lack of parent help. It would be a shame if the children missed out on future events due to lack of volunteers.
SPTC Parent Council Training
Thanks to all who attended the SPTC Parent Council training at Duncanrig High School. I think we all took some very valuable points from it and are ready to revolutionize our own PC.
Thought provoking stuff!
